Dayville, Oregon
Today is our 15th day since we officially started bicycling. It's morning and the coffee is brewing in our small French press. It's sunny and cool. We are staying at the Dayville Presbyterian Church, which has hosted bicyclists since the first folks bicycled the Transamerica route in 1976. They offer showers, internet, laundry, and a kitchen...luxuries of the touring cyclist. We continue to try to upload photos, but no luck so far. Our phones are pretty much without any service now, because we are traveling through remote areas and very small towns.
Eastern Oregon feels more like home to us, because it has the open sky of Kansas. Today we bicycle to Prairie City, which is 50-something miles up the road. We'll update again soon, we hope, and include photos of what we've been up to!

It's neat to be able to follow your travels. I was pedaling on Spencer Ave. today on my way to a piano tuning job. At the corner of 1st and Spencer (by Charlie's) I saw a young woman biker with baggage. I stopped to talk. She was waiting for her partner who showed up in a couple of minutes. They are biking from Virginia to Oregon. I told them about you and gave your names. You may see them about 1/2 way to Newton! They are Melanie and DeAnn--about your ages.
I'm envious of your trip. Would like to do it when I retire!
